Why do we treat Sewage or Wastewater in the first place???
It is important to treat our sewage or wastewater before its disposal into our water-bodies and groundwater in order to prevent pollution and to reduce the spread of communicable diseases caused by pathogenic organisms present in sewage.
Poor sanitation is the major cause of water contamination which is also directly linked to diseases such as Cholera, typhoid and diarrhoea. Most wastewater or sewage generated from our homes and industries are often discharged directly into the drains or surface water untreated. Also, septic tanks, soakaways and cesspools are increasingly becoming an issue as soils become saturated with pollutants and effluents with very high suspended and dissolved solids; causing environmental pollution and even in some cases groundwater pollution. High water-table areas are the worst affected and potable water is the new “gold” in these areas.
When sewage is not properly treated or maintained, diseases can spread through groundwater or surface flow; most especially in this country where most boreholes are located few metres away from soakaways. Conscious efforts from individuals, industries and the Government is required to protect this valuable resource. Bearing in mind that; the water in our glass is as old as the earth itself.
Biotech offers a wide range of treatment technologies designed for new constructions or to replace traditional systems. All our technologies are designed to use pure biological processes in the treatment of sewage without use of harsh chemicals or the expensive importation of bacteria. Our systems are trouble-free and easy to maintain. We offer tried and tested technologies with proven track records. All our Plants are ISO certified.
Biotech also proposes solutions that use zero to little energy and are remarkably robust and reliable – from biofiltration to activated sludge such as ASP, SAF, MBBR and SBR.
Our products are fully adapted to today’s current problems and needs of Hotels, Commercial Buildings, Housing Developments and Residential Properties.
Our products also comply with the most stringent discharge standards such as World Health Organisation (W.H.O), Federal Environmental Protection Agency (FEPA), National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) and other local regulatory authorities such as Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) and Lagos State Water Regulatory Commission (LSWRC) among others.
